Also referred to as 'wires-only' ADSL. This Broadband DIY option enables you to buy your own Broadband Modem or Broadband Router, although sometimes hardware may be provided as part of the package from your chosen Broadband Provider. You should check the Broadband Provider's offer carefully, before you decide to purchase your own Broadband equipment. You may also require one or more micro filters - again you should check with your broadband Provider, as sometimes these are included too.

It will not be necessary for a BT engineer to visit your premises, as the ADSL Broadband activation of your telephone line is undertaken at the BT Telephone Exchange.

There are some good advantages to choosing a self-install Broadband or ADSL package. For example, they are usually cheaper, with much smaller initial set-up charges and generally offer a shorter lead-time, typically 5-7 days from the date of ordering your Broadband product. You will also have more flexibility when it comes to controlling how your connection is set-up at home.
